How to get to Konopinda cottage during winter
The road is maintained during winter, but it is not chemically treated because of the environment. It is required by law that you have winter tires on your car. We also recommend having snow chains. There are many cars parked alongside the road specially during Christmas and New Years Eve, therefore there is a possibility that the traffic might collapse.
Our orientation point no.1 is a blue gas station called KM Prona. Once you go pass it (it will be on your right hand side), you are almost at the end of your journey. The road will bring you to a main crossing in Pec pod Sněžkou (no.1), where you will see tall hotel Horizont in front of you and hotel Pecr on your right side. If the parking lot no.4 Zelený potok is closed, the traffic is taken to parking lot no. 3 called Kaplička. This where you will turn slightly left and you will have to tell the parking lot staff or the police that you have reserved a parking spot by pension Doulík (in Czech: “Máme rezervované parkoviště u penzionu Doulík”).
After this you go on for another 500m in the same direction. Here it is up to you whether you will continue to central parking lot no.4 called Zelený Potok or you will reserve your parking at pension Doulík a week in advance (you can also order a taxi right away). It is possible to park up to 3 cars there and it is up to you whether you will put your things directly into a taxi or you will go by foot.
It is approximately 1.5 km from the parking lot (red trail) and it is uphill, but if you do not have any medical issues, you will walk it without issues. There is also an option to walk to Javor ski lift (blue trail), put on your skis, take the lift up the hill and ski down to the cottage.
